Córdoba unveils a new prologue for its universal jewel: the Visitor Center of the Mosque-Cathedral.

Córdoba always invites you to return. And now, it does so with a compelling new reason: the recent opening of the Mosque-Cathedral Visitor Reception Center, Patio de San Eulogio—a space designed to enrich the experience of one of the world’s most fascinating monuments and to enhance the city’s appeal, especially during the quieter months of low season such as February and March.

Religious and cultural tourism is experiencing a moment of growth, and this new center—into which the Cathedral Chapter has invested more than €8.5 million—has become an essential stop for understanding the historical, artistic, and symbolic magnitude of the Mosque-Cathedral before even crossing its doors.

The visit begins with an unexpected and almost conspiratorial detail: the remains of an ancient Umayyad latrine. Far from being a minor space, this “bathroom” was clad in marble flooring and red-painted baseboards, reserved for caliphs and high officials. A detail as curious as it is revealing, speaking to the aesthetic refinement and power of the Andalusi period, and setting the tone for an itinerary that is as educational as it is fascinating.

From this initial discovery to the grand finale on the rooftop, the center unfolds a comprehensive museographic journey featuring scale models, archaeological remains, and interpretive resources that place the Mosque-Cathedral in context for what it truly is: a living museum, a synthesis of centuries of history and cultural coexistence.

And as a crowning moment, the views from above: the Roman Bridge, the Puerta del Puente, and the Triumph of Saint Raphael appear from a privileged vantage point, offering one of the most striking panoramas of the city.

Everything begins here

In addition to enriching the visit, the new center simplifies the practical side of the traveler’s experience: tickets to the Mosque-Cathedral and official audioguides can be purchased here. At Hospes Palacio del Bailío, we also offer our guests a ticket management service, so all you have to do is enjoy and let yourself be carried away by history.
