Santa Barbara Castle

At a height of 160 meters, Santa Barbara Castle should be the first thing to visit in Alicante. Historically, from this point and altitude, the city was guarded and protected from its enemies and pirates. The castle has been conserved in a very good condition. The area we are going to highlight is the Torre del Homenaje, the oldest point of the castle, since it dates from the SXI and from where you can enjoy the best views of the city of Alicante.

 

 

St. Nicholas Cathedral

The co-cathedral of St. Nicholas stands on the site of an ancient Arab mosque. This temple is now the most famous and oldest religious building in the city. The co-cathedral, with a Renaissance and Gothic style, was built in the 15th century. It has a beautiful cloister, sober facade and highly decorated chapels, where we highlight the altarpiece of St. Nicholas, Our Father Jesus and St. Raphael.

Postiguet Beach

The postiguet beach is so famous in the Valencian Community that it even has its own popular song. Due to its centric ubication, its fine sand and crystal clear waters, this beach is very popular. Right near to the Postiguet beach, you will find the Explanada promenade. It is characterized by its tiles which reproduce the waves of the sea.

El Palmeral

The Palmeral, a great park in front of the sea, should be among your first choices of things to visit in Alicante. It is full of vegetation, waterfalls, streams and even a lake. Santa Cruz District

We´re sure that the Santa Cruz neighborhood will attract your attention. Its narrow streets are arranged at the side of the mountain and is popular for its characteristic white houses and colorful flowers. The Barrio de Santa Barbara, is located near the Castle of Santa Barbara and has the chapel of Santa Cruz, building of the 18th century.

Alicante Market

The central market is another thing to see in Alicante. This wonderful modernist-style building has been active since 1922. In the market you can find fruit, vegetables, meat, fish or sweets, as well as enjoy a refreshing beer during its famous late afternoons.
