Hospes Palacio de los Patos

Sala de estar elegante con sofás, mesa de centro y lámpara colgante.

A two-century fusion. A palace reborn as a 5-star luxury hotel.

Hospes Palacio de los Patos is the seamless blend of two eras in natural dialogue. Behind its 19th-century historical facade, declared a Site of Cultural Interest, two buildings emerge: a contemporary structure of alabaster and glass, and a stately palace. Between them, an Arabian-inspired garden with water features gently mediates the transition. Here, history does not remain still: it evolves.

Light filters through latticework, marble coexists with glass and silence becomes a tangible presence.
As you cross the threshold, the bustle of the city falls away. The palace is reborn. And with you, a process of intimate, serene and conscious renewal begins.

Discover a recently renovated Grand Luxury retreat in the heart of Granada, where a 19th century palace, contemporary design, and an extraordinary private art collection create a stay marked by history, beauty, and culture.
The history of Granada is reinterpreted in a recently renovated 19th-century palace, where original architectural elements, contemporary design, and an extraordinary private art collection come together in a new expression of Grand Luxury. Located in the heart of Granada, Hospes Palacio de los Patos combines the elegance of a historic neoclassical palace with the bright modernity of the Alabastro Building. Recently renovated, the hotel proposes a refined dialogue between heritage and contemporary life, with serene interiors, private gardens, local gastronomy, and an integrated art collection naturally woven into the guest’s experience.

Architecture

Two architectural languages, the same history of Granada

The Hospes Palacio de los Patos is structured around two contrasting yet complementary buildings. The restored 19th-century palace retains its majestic proportions, its mosaic floors, its decorative ceilings, its ornate architectural elements, and its monumental staircase, reflecting the elegance of historical Granada. Beside it, the contemporary Alabastro Building introduces glass, light, and refined geometries, creating a subtle counterpoint to the historic construction. The gardens, terraces, and transition spaces connect both worlds, allowing classic architecture and modern design to coexist in natural harmony.

Interior Design — Bárbara Chapartegui & Alex Briones

A renovated interior defined by serene contrasts

The recent renovation of the hotel, led by interior designer Bárbara Chapartegui, respects the original character of the palace, whilst introducing a more contemporary, comfortable, and deeply personal atmosphere. Neutral and warm tones, richly tactile fabrics, sculptural lighting, and carefully selected furniture enhance the generous proportions of the historic rooms and suites. The custom-designed bar furniture, decorative mirrors, refined fixtures, and subtle references to Granada’s Arab heritage add functionality and character to each space. In the Alabaster Building, the design language is lighter and minimalist, expressed through fluid lines, glass, clear surfaces, and a delicate overlap of textures. In both buildings, interiors have not only been conceived as places to stay, but as serene and sensory spaces for rest and contemplation.

Art and culture

A private collection integrated into the stay

At Hospes Palacio de los Patos, art is not confined to a conventional gallery. It is present in the reception areas, the library, the main staircase, the restaurant, the lounges, and the rooms, becoming part of the rhythm and everyday life of the hotel. The collection brings together works from artists such as Lucio Muñoz, Christopher Wool, Eduardo Arroyo, Marta Gómez de la Serna, Cecilia Sebastián de Erice, Adolfo Estrada, Beatrice Caracciolo, and Monsa Domingo. Among its most prominent pieces are the sculptures Deshollinador by Eduardo Arroyo, the diptych Jardín romano by Marta Gómez de la Serna, the work Untitled by Christopher Wool, and the composition of great material-visual richness Composición vertical by Lucio Muñoz. Each work establishes its own dialogue with the architecture, inviting the guest to discover the hotel as a vibrant and constantly evolving cultural space.
