The renewal of this distinction also comes at a particularly significant moment for the Bailio Palace. After its recent renovation, the hotel embarks on a new stage in which its historical heritage takes on a new dimension through contemporary interior design and a careful presence of art in its spaces.
A new look at a historic palace
Located in a complex of buildings dating from the 16th to 18th centuries, Hospes Palacio del Bailio is one of those places where history appears in every corner.
Under the glass floor of its central courtyard, Roman remains can be seen, while original architectural elements, historical paintings, and restored frescoes are part of the hotel’s rooms and spaces.
The recent renovation, carried out by interior designers Bárbara Chapartegui and Tristán Domecq, proposes a contemporary reading of the building without altering its essence. The project incorporates materials such as natural oak, travertine, aged brass, and noble fabrics, together with a palette inspired by the tones of Córdoba: cal white, raw linen, olive green, and terracotta.
The result is a balance between the historical and the contemporary. The new interiors complement the original architecture and allow its heritage elements to remain central.
When art is part of the architecture
One of the most distinctive features of this new stage is the presence of art.
At Hospes Palacio del Bailio, the works are not concentrated in a single space. They are discovered from the entrance and the reception, along the corridors, and also in the rooms, integrating naturally into the hotel experience.
The collection brings together works by prominent Spanish and international contemporary artists, including Rafael Canogar, Antonio Saura, Carmen Laffón, Gonzalo Lebrija, José Dávila, Elena Alonso, Pin Morales, and Manuel Padorno.

The Historic Junior Suites preserve frescoes, original ornaments, and palatial details, now accompanied by new materials, warm tones, and a decoration designed by Chapartegui and Domecq.
In the Gran Capitán Presidential Suite, the new decoration values the original architecture and historical frescoes, integrating them into a renovated space with contemporary lines and noble materials.
